What We Offer:

Salary: $55,600 - $60,000* annually, commensurate with experience

Your Role as Director of Career Development

 

The Director of Career Development provides oversight for the university’s career-related services and programs. Career Development supports all students, alumni, faculty, and employer clients in developing career education, identifying career paths, and pursuing experiential learning and employment opportunities that align with their formal academic pursuits. This is a modified full-time, 11-month, administrative exempt, grant-funded position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

🔹 All Center for Student Success staff members are responsible for the retention, comprehensive advisement, and career services for our students.

🔹 Maintain a comprehensive career development plan to assist students in linking their academic experiences to workplace opportunities.

🔹 Manage the development of career counseling/programming related to career exploration, major decision-making, networking, job search, and graduate/professional school preparation for undergraduate,

         graduate students and alumni

🔹 Deliver programs, services, coaching, career counseling, and academic advising designed to actively engage undecided students in the process of career exploration and major decision-making.

🔹 Collaborate with Academic Affairs colleagues to support experiential learning initiatives and other efforts that help integrate career development practices into academic disciplines.

🔹 Collaborate with the Center for Student Success career team regarding on-campus recruitment and employer promotions.

🔹 Participate in the delivery of regional job fairs for students such as Teacher Recruitment Days, WNY Law School Fair, and Local/Regional Job Fairs.

🔹 Train colleagues and graduate students in career development practices.

🔹 Develop an alumni/student-networking program in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Engagement and Alumni Board of Directors.

🔹 Provide career assessment tools and counseling for alumni.

🔹 Supervise the Associate Director for Career Development.

🔹 Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed:

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education or a discipline directly related to staffing, employment, career development, and planning, or other human resource-related disciplines.
  • Program development and management experience.
  • Experience in university career services and/or corporate recruitment management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and employers to create. internship, job, and networking opportunities.
  • Budget management.
  • Program development and management.
  • Staff management and development.
  • Demonstrate effective stakeholder collaboration with faculty, academic departments, alumni, and other campus units to integrate career development into the broader student experience.
  • Commitment to equitable and inclusive support through initiatives that support the career development of underrepresented student populations
  • Demonstrate the ability to stay abreast of current industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies for career development.
  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to the goals and responsibilities of career services.
