Your Role as Registrar

 

The Registrar is an integral part of the Academic Affairs and Student Records and Financial Services Center areas. They are responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of academic records, and providing exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff. The position involves overseeing all aspects of student registration, degree conferral, transcript processing, and compliance with federal and state regulations, including FERPA. The Registrar also plays a crucial role in the implementation and utilization of the college's student information system. They report directly to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the academic affairs and records portion of the Student Records and Financial Services Center.
  • Supervise and develop staff within the Academic Records and Registration area.
  • Maintain archival records according to the accepted standards and practices of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including FERPA.
  • Ensure college academic records/registration functions are administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Manage the maintenance and integrity of student academic records.
  • Manage the student information system (Banner) and related technologies – (examples are: degree audit (DegreeWorks); course management system (CourseLeaf) to support registrar functions.
  • Oversee academic calendar, scheduling, classroom utilization, registration, final examination, rosters, grading, academic standing, graduation, catalogs, and other associated registrar functions.
  • Work closely with academic affairs leadership, deans, and faculty regarding the maintenance of the institutional curriculum.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and other administrative offices to support student success.
  • Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff on registrar matters.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate faculty governance and administrative bodies to review and discuss academic procedures and policies.
  • Prepare and manage the office budget.
  • Provide appropriate campus communities with needed student record data as well as internal and external reporting.
  • Provide leadership and work with appropriate institutional staff/faculty to develop systems and process enhancements and automate office functions and to develop new systems to enhance student and faculty services.
  • Participate and or lead appropriate institutional workgroups and/or committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

 

What You Need to Succeed:

 

✔ Qualifications:

 

  • Five years of experience in a higher education environment is required; previous work in a Registrar’s Office preferred
  • Understanding of FERPA and other relevant regulations
  • Attention to detail; ability to manage confidential and sensitive data is essential
  • Strong knowledge of student information systems (Banner preferred).
  • Strong analytical and data management skills. enhancing access to academic data in support of institutional planning and reporting;
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and improving administrative processes; ability to adapt to changing curriculum and academic policies
  • Understanding of FERPA and other relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with various constituencies including: students, faculty, administrators, and the general public
  • Experience in planning and assessing administrative office goals and objectives.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Commitment to student success and service excellence.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
