Position Overview and Qualifications:

 

The Department of Kinesiology at Canisius University invites applications for a long-term, non-tenure-track position to begin in August of 2025. This position has the potential to be converted to a tenure-track position in the future. Applicants should possess a Doctorate in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Sports Medicine or a closely related field or have their degree completed within one year of the date of hire. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests may include global and community public health, exercise science, strength and conditioning or sports medicine. It is preferred that applicants should exhibit potential for publication of scholarly research in the fields of public health and/or kinesiology. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

 

The Department of Kinesiology, housed in the School of Education and Human Services, offers a fully online Master’s degree in Exercise Science, an Advanced Certificate in Sports Performance, two face-to-face Bachelor’s degrees in Health & Wellness and Sports & Exercise Health Care and a minor in Strength & Conditioning. There are approximately 130 full- and part-time students in the programs and three core faculty members. Long-Term faculty members have a 4-course per semester teaching load, are expected to participate in research and scholarly activities, provide academic advisement to students, and engage in service to the department, university, and community.

 

We seek candidates with a strong identity as a teacher and scholar and mentor with a record of active membership/engagement in exercise science related organizations. Candidates with experience and licensure or certification from the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association or similar organization are preferred. Candidates should be familiar and comfortable teaching in-person as well as remotely.

Compensation and Benefits:

 

Salary Range: $58,000 - $67,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

*Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.

 

Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time faculty’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution from the University after one year. One year waiting period may be waived provided the person was employed in higher education for at least one-year full time within three years prior to hire date. University contribution would not begin until proof of prior service is received. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
