Now Hiring: Assistant Professor of Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation
Salary: $55,000 to $60,000
Canisius University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in its Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation and Anthrozoology department beginning August 15, 2025. Teaching responsibilities will include our introductory Animal Behavior course sequence. In addition, the ideal candidate will offer upper-level undergraduate courses in areas such as animal cognition, animal communication, and/or animal welfare and will complement the specialties of our existing faculty. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach a course within our hybrid graduate Anthrozoology Program. We seek an individual committed to excellence in teaching, mentoring undergraduate students, and the conduct of productive scholarship. Applicants must hold a PhD in a related field (including but not limited to psychology, biology, environmental science, or animal science). Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $60,000.
Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate’s actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time faculty’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution from the university after one year. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
