Your Role as Adjunct Professor for European History

The Department of History at Canisius University seeks an adjunct instructor for Fall 2026 to teach up to two scheduled sections of the survey-level course “HIS 108: History of Modern Europe since 1815.” As an approved core curriculum course in the School of Arts & Social Sciences, this class focuses on the major political, social, and intellectual currents in Western Civilization from 1815 to the present. This course, which meets face-to-face, also fulfills several requirements for the university, including History and Global Awareness.

 

What You Need to Succeed:

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in European History with special privilege given to candidates who are pursuing a doctorate in the field.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
  • Must be committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive teaching environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning within a liberal arts context.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Canisius University and the Jesuit tradition in education.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
